산림청, 가나에 경제 발전을 위한 산림녹화·디지털 산림관리 정책 공유 산림청(청장 박은식)은 가나 산림분야 공무원 등 대표단이 정부대전청사를 방문해 우리나라의 성공적인 산림녹화 및 디지털 산림관리 정책에 대해 협력방안을 논의했다고 29일 밝혔다. 이날 산림청은 가나 대표단(토지천연자원부, 산림위원회, 재정부)을 대상으로 - 한국의 산림녹화 성공 경험, - 산림재난대응·산림산업경제·기후위기극복 등 주요 산림정책, - 산림부문 국제협력 전략 및 성공 사례 등을 소개했다. 특히 지난해 유네스코(UNESCO) 세계기록유산에 등재된 '한국 산림녹화기록물'의 역사적 의의와 성과를 공유하며, 황폐했던 국토를 성공적으로 녹화한 정책적 결단과 국민적 참여 과정에 대해 높은 관심을 받았다. 이현주 산림청 국제협력담당관은 "한국의 산림녹화 성공 경험은 오랜 정책 추진과 국민 참여를 통해 이뤄낸 소중한 자산이자 국제사회와 함께 공유해야 할 성과이다."며, "이번 연수가 가나의 산림관리 역량 강화에 도움이 되기를 바라며, 기후위기 대응을 위해 세계은행 등 국제기구와 협력해 한국의 우수한 산림정책과 기술을 알려 국제사회에 적극 기여하겠다."고 밝혔다.

KFS Shares Korea's Forest Restoration and Digital Forest Management Policies with Ghana to Support Economic Development

The Korea Forest Service (KFS), headed by Minister PARK Eunsik, announced on July 29 that a Ghanaian delegation including forestry officials visited the KFS to discuss cooperation on Korea's experience in successful forest restoration and digital forest management policies.

During the visit, the KFS briefed a Ghanaian delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the Forestry Commission, and the Ministry of Finance, on Korea's successful experience in national forest restoration; major forest policies covering forest disaster management, the forest industry and the forest economy, and climate change response; as well as its international forestry cooperation strategy and successful cooperation cases.

In particular, the KFS highlighted the historical significance and achievements of the Korea Reforestation Archives, which were inscribed on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Memory of the World Register last year. The delegation showed strong interest in Korea's policy commitment and nationwide public participation that transformed the country's once-devastated landscapes into healthy forests.

LEE Hyunju, Director of the International Cooperation Division of the KFS, stated, "Korea's successful forest restoration experience is a valuable asset built through decades of sustained policy implementation and nationwide public participation, and one that should be shared with the international community. We hope this workshop will help strengthen Ghana's forest management capacity, and the KFS will continue to work with international organizations such as the World Bank to contribute to the international community by sharing Korea's advanced forest policies and technologies."
